About us
Add a splash of sunshine to your home with this charming Lemon Candle Holder DIY! Perfect for brightening up any room, this project is not only fun but also easy to follow. With a few simple materials and a pinch of creativity, you’ll have a lovely, handmade candle holder that radiates warmth and cheer. Let's dive into this zesty craft and bring a touch of citrusy delight to your decor!
1. Begin by unwrapping your air-dry clay. Knead it gently to make it pliable and easy to work with. If you prefer, our stores also carry white clay for a different look. Check our store locator to find the nearest Flying Tiger Copenhagen!
2. Place the clay on your wooden board and use a rolling pin or a glass bottle to roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness. Make sure it's even and smooth.
3. Cut out the perfect lemon shape, use a craft knife or another sharp tool to cut out a lemon shape from the rolled-out clay. You can either freehand this or use a template for precision.
4. With the leftover clay, cut out small leaf shapes to add extra detail to your lemon candle holder.
5. Gently lift the clay lemon from the board. Use your fingers to slightly curve the edges upwards.
6. This adds a natural, three-dimensional look to your creation. Ensure the shape holds well by smoothing any rough spots and pressing firmly but gently.
7. Attach the leaves to the sides of the lemon shape. Press gently to ensure they stick.
8. Bring Your Lemon to Life with Colour. Once your clay is dry, it’s time to bring it to life with some colour! Start by painting the lemon a bright yellow. Use a smaller brush to add details and textures to make it look realistic.
9. Paint the leaves a fresh green and add veins with a darker shade for a natural effect.
10. Now that your lemon candle holder is beautifully painted and dry, it’s time to display it proudly. Find the perfect spot in your home where it can shine.
11. Light the candle and watch as the flickering flame highlights the vibrant colours and details of your creation.
Psst, we’d love to see your DIY project you’ve made. Share your creation on Instagram and use the hashtag #FlyingTigerCopenhagen!
